Nigeria Immigration Service Brings Passport Services to Four UK Cities This September

Nigerians living in the United Kingdom will soon have a much easier path to sorting out their passport issues — no long-distance travel to London required. The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced that a Passport Intervention Team will visit four UK cities this September, offering in-person passport services on the ground.

The deployment follows directives from the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and comes after consultation between the Nigerian High Commission and Nigerian community representatives across the UK.

Where and When

The team will hold sessions in the following locations:

Manchester Nigerian House, 23 Platt Lane, Manchester M14 5NE. 7–19 Sept. 2026

Aberdeen Hilton Convention Centre, 13 Smithfield Road, Aberdeen AB24 4NR 21–26 Sept. 2026

Cardiff Sophia Gardens, Sophia Walk, Cardiff CF11 9XR. 21–26 Sept. 2026

Nigerians in these cities and surrounding areas can use the exercise to apply for a new passport, renew an existing one, or resolve applications that have been stuck in limbo.

Apply and Pay Online First

Before showing up at a venue, applicants still need to apply and pay through the official NIS Passport Application portal at passport.immigration.gov.ng. This isn't a walk-in, pay-on-the-day event — the online application and payment step comes first.

What to Bring

Once you've applied online, you'll need to bring the following documents to your chosen venue:

  • Completed application form

  • Payment slips as proof of payment

  • Appointment slip

  • Self-addressed return envelope

  • For renewals specifically: your current passport (this is compulsory)

Two things worth flagging clearly: cash payments will not be accepted at the venues, and applicants are expected to cooperate fully with officials to keep the exercise running smoothly.

Digital Channels Still Open

If you can't make it to one of the four cities, or the dates don't work for you, it's worth noting that NIS's regular digital application channels — including the Contactless Passport Application System and home delivery service — remain fully operational throughout this period. The in-person exercise is an addition to those options, not a replacement.
